Egress Lighting

A power outage can leave you in the dark and create an unsafe condition for employees, visitors and customers. We inspect, repair and install all types of exit and emergency lights.

Exit sign and emergency lighting are life safety equipment designed to provide sufficient illumination in the event of a power outage or other emergency that would require the occupants to safely exit the building. With just a few exceptions, virtually all exit signs and emergency lights are designed to operate under normal power sources and have a rechargeable battery power source that provides emergency power to the unit in the event that there is a loss of power.

Megacity Fire inspects, repairs and replaces all types of egress lighting. Exit signs and emergency lights are required to be installed and tested periodically in virtually all commercial, industrial and government buildings and structures. Egress lighting systems are a necessary component for a company's life safety plan per NFPA 101: Life Safety Code. Exit and emergency lights provide lighting in hallways, stairwells, ramps, escalators, aisles and exits during power outages. These lighting systems increase your security and comfort and allow your employees and customers to find the path of egress during a power outage.

A functional test shall be conducted on every required lighting system at 30-day intervals for not less than 30 seconds. An annual test shall be conducted on every required battery-powered emergency lighting system for not less than 90 minutes. Equipment shall be fully operational for the duration of the test. Written records of a visual inspections and tests shall be kept by the owner for inspection by the authority having jurisdiction. Megacity Fire will repair or replace any light bulbs, batteries, lenses and non-functioning units.
